Kabarak University TVET Institute (KABU TVET) successfully hosted its Inaugural Research and Innovation Day on 22nd January 2026 at the Nakuru City Campus, marking a significant milestone in the Institute’s development in applied research, innovation, and competency-based training. The event brought together TVET students, trainers, university staff, industry professionals, and invited guests in a dynamic forum dedicated to showcasing practical solutions that address real-world challenges. Guided by Kabarak University’s philosophy of Education in Biblical Perspective, the event emphasized ethical, relevant, and impact-driven innovation.

The Research and Innovation Day provided an important platform for KABU TVET students and staff to present applied research projects, prototypes, and innovative ideas developed through hands-on training. The showcased innovations addressed key sectors including technology, agriculture, entrepreneurship, engineering solutions, and skills development, demonstrating the vital role of TVET institutions in supporting national development and workforce readiness. The presentations and exhibitions highlighted the effectiveness of competency-based education and training in producing market-ready, solution-oriented graduates.
Participants benefited from expert insights shared by a distinguished panel of keynote and guest speakers drawn from academia and industry. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. George Muturi, a Business Coach and Consultant, emphasized the importance of an innovative mindset, problem-solving, and aligning technical skills with market opportunities. Additional insights were shared by Mr. Levy Masibo of Pixel Engineering Africa Ltd, Dr. Ann Wacira, a Strategy Expert and Lecturer at Kabarak University. Their contributions provided valuable perspectives on innovation, employability, strategy, and entrepreneurship.

The successful hosting of the Inaugural Research and Innovation Day strengthened collaboration between KABU TVET and industry partners, strengthening the Institute’s role as a hub for applied learning and industry-responsive training. The event laid a strong foundation for future research and innovation initiatives, as KABU TVET continues to foster a culture of creativity, excellence, and practical skills development in line with national priorities and global standards.
