In collaboration with key stakeholders and partners, Kabarak University TVET Institute (KABU TVET) successfully held a Career Open Day on 23rd January 2026 at the Nakuru City Campus. The event aimed to empower youth through education by creating awareness around STEM-related courses, career guidance, and mentorship opportunities, while linking prospective learners to relevant programmes offered at KABU TVET.
The Career Open Day brought together students who had completed Form Four, those currently in high school, and other youth seeking skills-based career pathways. Participants were guided on diverse career options in STEM and other professional fields, with a focus on helping them make informed decisions aligned with their interests, abilities, and labour market demands. The engagement highlighted the role of technical and vocational education in addressing skills gaps and promoting innovation and employability.

Industry experts and faculty staff played a central role in the event by offering mentorship, career advice, and practical insights into various professions. Learners were exposed to KABU TVET’s competency-based training approach and introduced to programmes in ICT, engineering, business, hospitality, beauty therapy, dress making, tourism, and professional certifications, enabling them to clearly link career aspirations with available training opportunities at the Institute.
Experts drawn from Pixel Engineering, ICDL, KASNEB, and Legacy Hotel provided specialised guidance and shared industry perspectives, enriching the learning experience for attendees. Their participation strengthened industry-institution collaboration and ensured that the career guidance provided was relevant, practical, and responsive to current industry trends.
