The Kabarak University TVET Institute hosted its annual graduation ceremony today, December 10, 2025, at the City Campus Grounds. Celebrating the commissioning of a new group of certified professionals, the event was guided by the vital theme: "The Entrepreneurial Mindset: Cultivating Innovation and Creativity." Graduates were honoured for completing programs including the KNEC, CDACC Level 6, Level 5, and Level 4 qualifications, as well as the rigorous NITA Level III and Level II programs.

The focal point of the ceremony was the stirring Keynote Speech delivered by the highest-ranking official in attendance, Prof. Henry Kiptiony Kiplangat, PhD, MBS, OGW,, the Vice-Chancellor of Kabarak University and Chairperson of the KABU TVET Board of Directors. In a powerful address, Prof. Kiplangat reframed the graduates' future, challenging them to view the job market as a "construction site" that requires "builders," not merely "tenants looking for a job." He urged graduates, from Beauty Therapy to Electrical Engineering, to become entrepreneurs and innovators who solve real-world problems. His core message emphasized character as their greatest asset: "Remember the core values you absorbed here: Integrity, Honesty, and Excellence, and Christian values. That character is your greatest capital."
The formal program was skillfully orchestrated by the institution’s leadership. Prof. Ronald Chepkilot, DVC (Administration and Finance KABU, & Member, Board of Directors KABUTVET), performed the Acknowledgment of Distinguished Guests and introduced the Keynote Speaker. Earlier, Dr. Faith Yator, Deputy Director, KABUTVET, delivered the Welcoming Remarks, providing a detailed Highlight of the KABUTVET Programs, and later presided over the formal Presentation of Graduates.

The ceremony also served to strengthen essential external partnerships. The business community was represented by Linda Kahega, Director of the Chambers of Commerce, Nakuru Chapter, who spoke on behalf of Ms. Ruth Ndungu, KNCC Nakuru County Chairperson, reinforcing the connection between skills training and industry demand. Furthermore, the dedication of sponsoring partners was acknowledged as Mr. James Mulandi, Manager of Partnership, Compassion International, represented the Compassion team, which supports many learners at the institute. The graduates' achievements were proudly highlighted by student speakers Shirly Sanau (Pioneer Student Representative) and Bivon Okemwa (Best Overall Student Academics).
The results of the Institute's model speak for themselves: the first NITA training cohort of 129 learners achieved an impressive 86% pass rate, with 30 students attaining a First Class. Graduates received vital practical exposure through partnerships with 14 real-world learning sites, including Sarova Hotel, Merica Hotel, and Bonfire Ventures. In concluding the event, Prof. Kiplangat thanked the parents, guardians, and sponsors for their investment, reminding the newly commissioned graduates that they are now walking out to carry "the solution to someone’s problem."
