Kabarak University TVET Institute is currently engaged in a five-day intensive training program on Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) at its City Campus. This initiative, supported by the Vice-Chancellor of Kabarak University, demonstrates the institute's dedication to equipping its staff with the expertise required to excel in this vital field.
The program, which kicked off yesterday, March 5th, 2024, is led by the enthusiastic Executive Director, Dr. Mutai. The director emphasized the significance of the training, highlighting its potential to elevate classroom delivery and guarantee top-notch student learning experiences.
This timely training program coincides with the Kenyan government's encouragement for institutions to integrate CBET programs into their vocational training offerings. The curriculum encompasses a wide range of topics, including:
- An overview and implementation strategies for CBET
- The role of TVET CDASS and its collaboration with other stakeholders
- The Kenyan Qualifications Framework's (KNQF) progression pathways
- Competency-based assessment, including various types, methods, and the design and development of assessment tools
