"Let your journey be a testimony to what is possible when skill meets opportunity." – Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, PhD
In a vibrant celebration of technical skill, personal growth, and future promise, the Kabarak University TVET Institute, in partnership with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), recently held its graduation ceremony themed "Skillful Steps Toward Success." The event took place on April 22, 2025, at the Kabarak University Nakuru City Campus Grounds.
The highlight of the ceremony was the keynote speech delivered by Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, PhD, the Vice-Chancellor of Kabarak University and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kabarak University TVET Institute. Prof. Kiplangat presided over the graduation, reaffirming the university’s identity as a place of Excellence, Relevance, and Impact, and underscoring its commitment to producing graduates who are not only well-trained but also ready to lead and transform their communities.
"Today, you walk away not just with certificates, but with confidence, character, and real-world skills," he said, encouraging the graduates to let their work reflect professionalism and integrity.
Prof. Kiplangat was joined at the ceremony by Prof. Ronald Chepkilot, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration and Finance, who also serves as a Board Member of the Kabarak TVET Institute. Their joint presence signified the strong institutional support and visionary leadership that continue to position the institute as a premier center of technical and vocational training in Kenya.
Dr. Waiganjo, Director of Kabarak University City Campus, praised the university as "the best destination for learning," citing its serene, disciplined, and resource-rich environment. His remarks echoed the sentiments of many guests, who applauded Kabarak’s continued dedication to quality and holistic education.
Delivering his address as Guest Speaker, Mr. Richard Meli, the FKE Regional Coordinator for the Rift Valley, congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance of soft skills—such as communication, teamwork, and time management—which he said are key differentiators in today’s competitive job market.
Mr. Caleb Munyoki, Manager of Partnerships at Compassion Africa, lauded the Kabarak TVET Institute as an "exceptional place" where skill meets mentorship and potential meets opportunity. He also commended the partnership between Kabarak and Compassion Africa, which has opened doors for many young people to access life-changing training.
TVET Executive Director Empowers Graduates for the Future
In a symbolic and uplifting moment, the TVET Executive Director officially conferred certificates upon the graduates, empowering them to pursue their ambitions with courage and purpose. The ceremony celebrated graduates from a wide range of disciplines, including ICT, food production, electrical wiring, plumbing, beauty therapy, and arc welding—programs offered in partnership with NITA.
Prof. Kiplangat closed his keynote address by encouraging the graduates to pursue further training, build on the strong foundation laid at Kabarak, and move forward with confidence.
"Let your journey speak of excellence. Let your discipline reflect our values. And let your future shine as a reflection of what Kabarak University stands for," he concluded.
With the collective support of institutional leaders, partners like Compassion Africa, and national stakeholders such as the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) and NITA, Kabarak University continues to define itself as a hub of transformative education—firmly rooted in Excellence, tailored for Relevance, and committed to Impact.
