The Kabarak University TVET Institute recently held a two-day strategic retreat aimed at strengthening policy frameworks in line with TVETA regulations, relevant statutory requirements, and the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) model.
Led by the Board of Directors, the retreat focused on reviewing key governance and operational documents. In total, more than 10 existing policies were reviewed, and 11 new policies were developed to enhance institutional compliance, quality assurance, and effective service delivery. The Institute’s strategic plan was also reviewed as part of efforts to align long-term goals with national TVET priorities.
The Institute extends its sincere appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, Kabarak University, for the initiative and continued support that made this impactful engagement possible. We also acknowledge the valuable leadership and participation of Prof. Simon Kipchimba, Dr. Edwin Akumu, Mr. Oscar Gidei, Dr. Dave Bowen, the City Campus Director, the Human Resource team, and the broader TVET leadership, including the Deputy Director, Heads of Departments, and Coordinators.
As part of the retreat, the team toured the TVET workshops and commended the modern, well-equipped training facilities that support high-quality, competency-based learning.
This retreat marks a significant step forward in strengthening governance, enhancing quality, and advancing TVET excellence at Kabarak University.
