Representing Kabarak University TVET, our team, led by our Deputy Director and Lead Trainer in the programme, Dr. Faith Yator, joined a dynamic group of innovation hubs and ecosystem builders, including MG Innovation Hub, Afritech Space, Inuka Agrisolution, and CoELIB, under the convening leadership of Impact Gateway Africa through the IYBA-SEED programme.
This was a two-day intensive IYBA-SEED Inclusive Entrepreneurship Curriculum Co-Creation Workshop held in Nakuru City on 31 March and 1 April 2026.
Over the two days, participants engaged in deep, hands-on co-creation sessions aimed at developing a locally relevant and inclusive entrepreneurship curriculum. The workshop was not just another meeting; it served as a working laboratory of ideas, experiences, and practical solutions tailored to the realities of Nakuru County and beyond.
As Kabarak University TVET, we contributed our expertise in Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET), ensuring that the curriculum aligns with industry needs and those of targeted entrepreneurs, while remaining accessible to diverse learners, including youth, women, and entrepreneurs in the informal sector. Our focus was on embedding practical skills, financial literacy, and innovation into the training framework.
One of the key highlights of the workshop was the co-design of a Training of Trainers (ToT) toolkit, which will empower facilitators across institutions to deliver entrepreneurship training in a more inclusive, engaging, and impactful way. Through collaborative group work, peer learning, and facilitated discussions, participants refined modules that address real challenges faced by entrepreneurs, ranging from access to markets and finance to product development and certification.
The diversity of institutions represented was a major strength. Each organization brought unique insights, from grassroots community engagement to technology-driven innovation, resulting in a rich, well-rounded curriculum framework. The spirit of partnership and shared vision was evident throughout, reinforcing the importance of ecosystem collaboration in driving sustainable economic growth.
As the workshop concluded, there was a strong sense of accomplishment and anticipation. The co-created curriculum is not the end, but the beginning of a transformative journey that will shape how entrepreneurship is taught and practiced within our communities. We extend our sincere appreciation to Impact Gateway Africa and the IYBA-SEED programme for convening this important initiative, and to all participating organizations for their commitment and valuable contributions.
