Kabarak University TVET Institute is pleased to announce a significant milestone in its journey of skills development and empowerment. The Institute has officially been recognized as a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Centre, marking a new chapter in expanding access to competency-based certification.
This achievement follows a successful three-day sensitization and training program conducted by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). Through this engagement, our staff have been fully equipped with the knowledge and skills required to guide and assess candidates through the Recognition of Prior Learning process with confidence and professionalism.
Recognition of Prior Learning is a structured process that allows individuals to have their existing skills, knowledge, and experience formally assessed and certified. It does not matter where or how these skills were acquired. What matters is the competence an individual already possesses and can demonstrate.

In collaboration with the TVET Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC) and the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), the Institute is committed to promoting quality training, competency-based assessment, and the award of nationally recognized certification. This collaboration strengthens the value and credibility of qualifications awarded through the RPL pathway.
This development opens an important opportunity for many skilled individuals. It allows them to gain formal recognition without having to repeat training for skills they already have. Once assessed, successful candidates receive a nationally recognized certificate that can significantly improve employability and career growth.
The RPL pathway is especially beneficial to Jua Kali artisans, experienced workers without formal certificates, school leavers with practical skills, and anyone who has developed expertise through hands-on experience. It provides a fair and inclusive route into formal recognition and professional advancement.

The RPL process is straightforward. Interested candidates begin by submitting an application expressing their interest. This is followed by an assessment stage where their skills are evaluated through practical demonstrations, interviews, or presentation of a portfolio. Those who meet the required standards are then awarded nationally recognized certification.
Kabarak University TVET Institute remains committed to empowering skilled individuals and helping them transform experience into recognized qualifications. This is more than a program. It is an opportunity for growth, inclusion, and career advancement.
We invite all skilled individuals to take the next step and join us in shaping a future where every skill counts and every experience matters.
