Kabarak University TVET Institute is proud to announce its participation in a significant initiative to strengthen collaboration within the Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector across Kenya. This project, spearheaded by the Ministry of Education's Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVETA) through ACAL Consulting Ltd, is a crucial step towards building a more robust and interconnected TVET ecosystem in the East African region.
The data collection exercise involved physical visits to various training institutions, including Kabarak University TVET Institute. This comprehensive approach ensures that the developed framework reflects the diverse needs and best practices of TVET institutions throughout Kenya. The visiting team was particularly impressed by Kabarak's existing efforts in engaging with industry partners, highlighting the institute's commitment to providing its students with relevant, market-driven skills.
The project's scope is ambitious, encompassing:
- Training: Empowering institutions and programs across Kenya and the wider EASTRIP region.
- Collaboration: Fostering partnerships between national and county governments, inter-governmental bodies within participating countries, regulators, professional bodies, and qualification awarding bodies.
- Curriculum Development: Bringing together curricula developers, Research, Training, and Innovation Institutions (RFTIs), and industry to create a dynamic and responsive TVET curriculum.
Kabarak University TVET Institute, led by Executive Director Dr. Dan Mutai, actively participated in this data collection exercise. Dr. Mutai and the entire TVET team, including staff and students, welcomed the delegation and engaged in insightful discussions about the project.
"We look forward to future collaborations with other TVET Institutes to strengthen industry linkages and put Kabarak TVET Institute ahead of others," Dr. Mutai remarked. This project presents a tremendous opportunity for Kabarak to share its expertise and learn from fellow institutions, ultimately enhancing the quality of TVET education throughout Kenya and beyond.
